Currently a student at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities majoring in Professional Journalism and minoring in Political Science.
As a student at the nationally accredited School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Minnesota, Nicole has taken courses that have provided her the skills to be a successful writer, communicator, and information gatherer.
Aside from school, Nicole also has experience in print media. She has been a newspaper correspondent for The Laker, which is a local publication in Mound, MN since December 2011. She has covered sports and local events.
Nicole also has experience in a communications and marketing environment from an internship with the Gopher Sports Marketing department. During this internship she helped implement marketing strategies and social networking into athletic events. She worked with coaches, players, and managers to prepare music for pre-game, in-game, post-game, player walkout, etc. As a Music Manager this year with the department she oversees the content and music played at sporting events.
In high school Nicole got her first taste of broadcast media, when she worked for Webcast America. She broadcasted live sporting events on this internet, while also providing play-by-play sports commentary. Through this venture she learned the technological side of broadcasting, while also gaining analytical skills.
Nicole is passionate about communication through the many different medium outlets. She loves learning about how the communication industry is constantly evolving. Staying updated on politics, international issues, sports, and popular culture through every media outlet is a daily habit for her.
